A computer science graduate & former film producer, Edwin Ng speaks about his working experience prior to joining Tropics Eight Suites as General Manager. Edwin who was in the film production company for 15 years has worked with esteemed brands like Maxis, Celcom, Honda and even the tourism industry – Tourism Malaysia. Edwin, who used to sleep only 30 hours per week shares his passion, challenges and his work as a filmmaker.
After bidding farewell to his film production days, Edwin joined TIDO Penang Hostel in 2015 then Tropics Eight Suites in 2017 in which he now oversees both properties under the umbrella of Trendy Expression.
Edwin grew up playing the badminton and rock climbing. “I was told that I was a hardcore rock climber back then”, he quipped. He continued sharing his experience climbing Batu Caves and his several mishaps during his rock climbing days. Edwin still plays the badminton today and enjoys running during his past time.
When asked if he has any regrets leaving the film production industry, Edwin firmly disagrees as he is now passionate with what he does and where he’s at today. “Seeing how TIDO and Tropics have grown in a short period of time has kept me going”, he said.
